I loved this the moment I saw it. What a wonderful colour pallette.

Well drawn.

The donkeys and boys are both adorable.

The donkeys appear to be well fed as well. Which makes me happy as I think it shows they're well treated. They're also adorable. I like the touch of them being different colours. One thing I disliked about the Disney version was them all being the same save for Pinocchio having grey ears and a tail.

I like the little touch of Candlewick/Lampwick having his arm around Pinocchio. Lampwick has a slightly naughty look on his face. He's going to have fun and he knows it. Pinocchio also looks cute and innocent.

Personally, despite what happens to them in the book, I like to think that even though they're going to become donkeys, they'll be happy donkeys that their human owners treat with love and respect.

first: thanks ;)
I tried to put in the illustration the details you noticed, but often i fail / or the things reamin unseen, so thanks ;P

your thoughts about the donkeys create - in my opinion - deep and diffucult questions. I think that the "land of toys" part in Pinocchio, now, in 2010, is the most powerful on the metaphorical level.
We now REALLY live in a Land of Toys. And yes, we know the right to do is going away, but...
